“Save The Food”: our commitment to reducing food waste

“Save The Food”: our commitment to reducing food waste
In Italy, each of us wastes 32 kg of food every year, with an estimated value of around 139 euros.

But the impact goes far beyond the economic cost. The food we throw away contributes significantly to CO₂ emissions, damaging the environment. Each year, food waste generates 132 kg of CO₂ per person. To offset this impact, every individual would need to plant six trees. And that's not all: 66% of food waste occurs within our own homes.

It's time to take action.
Each of us can make a difference. That’s why Irinox has launched the “Save The Food” project—our commitment to fighting food waste and promoting a culture of sustainability on multiple fronts.

We strive to encourage more conscious individual and collective behaviors around food consumption, sharing best practices to help reduce waste. We collaborate with a Scientific Committee that supports us in developing educational materials and informative content, which we share internally, with younger generations, and within local communities.
Irinox also raises awareness about food waste through cultural initiatives, such as the “Irinox Save The Food” award, part of the MIA Photo Fair. This award recognizes artists who explore the themes of food and waste through visual works—photography and installations—that inspire emotional and cultural reflection. At Identità Golose, through the “No Waste” award, we honor chefs who have stood out for their commitment to combating food waste in the culinary world.
And our commitment continues.
